WooHooo! It is that time again to link up with Doodle Bugs!
Oh Yeahhhhh! My Summer arrived TODAY and school is officially out except for Post Planning!
We have had a FUN week in first grade for the end of the year!
My Room Moms did an awesome job of making it fun for the kiddos. We made pudding cups with crumbled up vanilla wafers. The vanilla wafers were the beach and we added gummy bears. To top it all off we added a cute umbrella so that the gummy bears didn't get too much sun! he he he…
Good grief that is a pile of gummies isn't it? Oh and you can't do a post on gummy bears without the gummy bear song, right?
For the last day of school I created this "bag tag" for my firsties and put some of those delicious swedish fish in them. SO YUMMY!
At Midway we have an ageless and timeless tradition for our fifth graders every year. It is called the "Fifth Grade Final Walk" and I have witnessed many of my students that I had in kindergarten and first grade do this walk. I can tell you it is such a huge bag of emotions. I am excited and feel such joy for them to accomplish this part of their education. I am always so sad to see them go because I have watched them grow up before my eyes. It's like saying goodbye to my own children and wondering what life will hold for them.
This year I walked out with two of my little girls (Heidy and Joselyn) and I have walked them out to the bus every single day. I wasn't prepared for what was about to happen as I walked them out for the last time. As the three of us walked together holding hands, Heidy looked up at me and said, "This is our final walk isn't it Ms. Thomas?" Folks, I totally lost it and cried and hugged them so hard. Oh gracious, I didn't see that one coming at all!
Fifth Grade Final Walk
Last but not least is our joyful and emotional goodbye as the buses drive out of the parking lot. This is also another Midway tradition and this year I actually held it together enough to take a movie of it. It might not mean much to others, but it sure means a lot to me. It is the closing of another chapter in a book and doors opening for them that they can't even begin to imagine.
Well, that wraps it up for me for this week and I am so glad it is a three day weekend because I need to be renewed over the weekend from this emotional week!
