It is that time of year when elves everywhere make their appearance and try out some new mischief. This week in my classroom we had some mischief happening when I brought our classroom elf to school. We read the book "The Elf on the Shelf" and some of my students talked about some of the things their elves at home were already doing. Now we can talk about some of the mischief that our classroom elf is doing. The first day he sat on the shelf and was quiet. We came in the next morning and this is what we found:
He brought his own elf crayons (yes, they are really that small) and drew on paper all over the room. The second evening we left him alone on the shelf and came back to having unifix cubes thrown all over the carpet with the box emptied. He was sitting in the box with some unifix cubes in a red and white pattern to match his elf clothes.
On day three he obviously was playing with our computers and got in trouble. His foot got stuck in one of the headphones and got stuck hanging upside down with a "help" sign in his hands. The kids came in and were laughing at him and the sign. Later on that day Laia came up to me and said, "if he creates this much mischief in one night what is he going to do this weekend with two days"? I laughed so hard when she said that but then I thought I hope he lives up to her expectations on Monday morning. Here he is hanging upside down from a computer headphone.
