  19. Just linked up - but did not include the most important advice - go to the bathroom 3 minutes before the bell rings - always have an empty bladder when the bell rings!

  20. Thanks for doing such a great linky! I will be a first year 2nd grade teacher this year and love knowing what the expert teachers have to say for those of us who are just beginning our journey! I am reading every single post in the link up because I know that each one will have very thoughtful and important advice for me to carry with me as I begin my new year! Thanks again!

  21. After a decade of teaching, I still feel like I learn something new each year. My advice for first year teachers is simple. First, ask questions; never assume. If you don't know the answer to something, then ask. It is the same advice a teacher would give a student and it works just as well for newbies. Also, try not to stress over things that didn't work out as planned because you can always trash an activity or revamp it to make it better next time. Lastly, treat each child as if she/he were your own, and don't allow parents or other teachers to intimidate you! BTW....take bathroom breaks any chance you get....lol
